I have a Chi straightening iron, but I'm not sure what products to use in my hair before or after. Should I spray something before hand? Also, what are you supposed to do after using an iron? I have very fine, slightly wavy hair, and everytime I straighten it, it goes back to being wavy after 1/2 hour. What should I do?

Chi has a good thermal protector, but their flat iron sucks! You should return the flat iron and buy a Sedu or a Solia. In the event that you want to keep the flat iron you bought, try this:
1.Find a oil moisturizer that works for you (I use Cantu Shea Butter Oil Moisturizer).
2.Wash and condition your hair with your favorite shampoo and conditioner (deep conditioning treatments also cut down on frizz,so invest in a good one).
3.While your hair is soaking wet,rub the oil moisturizer in your wet hair and let air dry with the water, comb it through.
4.Proceed with the use of your flat iron, make sure its on the right heat for your hair type, high enough to straighten but not high enough to do any serious damage.
5.If all else fails, try the Chi line of hair care products, here is the link to all the products that they offer:

6.If that fails too,Try Biosilk:

Hope this helps you!

Use a straightening mist, as you use your chi. You can find them at your nearest salon, or even at walmart. They really do work. I have thick curly hair, and When I just use my chi, It goes back curly within an hour or so, but With the mist, It stays straight until I wash it :) Good luck. Just look at the bottle or ask when you get to the store.

We can do tremendous damage by using chemical dyes and permanents as well as by simply aiming the blow dryer at our heads every morning. Like being in the sun, all of these self-inflicted abuses destroy the cuticle and leave hair wide open to damage. Pulling hair into tight braids or ponytails can increase that stress and lead to breakage鈥攐r even bald spots. But in addition to being a cue that you need to treat you hair more carefully, unhealthy strands can also be an indicator of an unhealthy diet. Without adequate protein, growing hair strands won鈥檛 become as strong and resilient as they should be. And essential fatty acids (found in fish oil supplements, wild salmon, and flax seeds) may also play a role in keeping strands strong, shiny and healthy. If your diet is lacking in them, try increasing your consumption and see if your hair eats it up! Of course, what you eat can only impact hair that is just starting to grow, so it will be several months before any improvements are evident.

i suggest using GHD products (you can get it at sephora- its fairly expensive but AMAZING I TELL YOU) the "straightening" protecter keeps hair from frizzy after and protects while you straighten it. a plus is it smells delicious. lightly spray some hair spray after you straighten your hair, remember GHD is a god! and i have super wavy hair!

How exactly do you straighten your hair?
it all depends whether or not you got your flat iron from a salon..anything you might have got in a department store usally doesnt get hot enough..and also tend to damage hair more. i use a spray that is used for flat ironing your hair..its called flat out. umm..usually joico products work best..but you do have to pay the price. if u go to walmart hair salons..sometimes they have products there for 40-60% off. these products usually help keep the hair straight for longer and also add shine and softness. joico i think is the best.
usually you dont put anything on after..maybe a finishing sray that might help keep the hold..but you dont want to use something too strong because then ur hair will not be flowing and soft. you can also get shampoos and conditioners that apparently make ur hair flat so its easier to straighten. i find they work ok...sunsilk i found is cheap and somewhat works.
now when ur acctually straightening ur hair...the smaller the section the straighter your hair will get. take very small sections and part it. i usually work from the bottom up. clip hair out of the way so its easier. but dont clip the straightened hair it will leave kinks. combs will usually help separate the hair in thinner sections as you brush it down with the flat iron in one hand and comb in other. i usually go over the peice 3 times.
hope this helped.
How exactly do you straighten your hair?
Okay this may be long, but my hair used ot be really over processed (dead) so it's important to take care of it right especially if you apply heat (like straightening) to it. My hair is thin and wavy too. Either use a moisturizing shampoo %26amp; conditioner (like Neutrogena Triple Moist) or a striaghtening shampoo %26amp; conditioner (like Sunsilk Straight %26amp; Sleek). Only shampoo the top of your hair (your routes) and only do it every other day (the soap suds running down and the water alone will wash the ends just fine) and condition your hair every day (since you have wavy hair put conditioner through the whole thing) and ring out your hair before you do it so the water doesnt dilute it (obviously you need some water, just ring out the excess) and let it set for about 5 minutes. That way (since straightening requires heat) your hair will stay moist. And alwayssssss use a leave in conditioner to protect from damage (even though the Chi is all ceramic). If you're going to blow dry your hair, try an ionic one (just a suggestion) it blow drys faster so your hair won't get as exposed to heat. As for the actual straightening, take the top half of your hair and tie it up and clip it, straighten the bottom half by taking small strands and slowly (but not too slow) then let down the top half and do the same, maybe go over it a couple times. And they make straightening serums so oyur hair won't go back to wavy. Or hairspray may work.

I would go back to the salon that you bought it at and ask them what you should use on it for best results, so you dont damage your hair. You can use the Biosilk serum when its wet or dry which helps to smooth it out, but also you a thermal protecting spray before you run the iron over, there are several professional brands that are good to use.

i have wavy hair too and i also swear by my chi. i couldn't live without it. this is what i do for great hair. i use biolage hydrating shampoo and conditioner to hydrate my styled locks. then i put in a serum when its wet, like biolage, chi or my favorite, victoria secret. then i blow dry then i use regis salon hair straightening spray to spray to each section before straightening. then to finish the look i use biosilk or chi shine spray. this works for me!
