How to straighten my hair?

i have a chi flat iron so it's not the problem with the flat iron its my hair.

it's about four inches below my shoulder when it's curly and it's thin. i noticed that my hair looks bad now after i straighten it. its very frizzy and over the day it looses its flat iron-ness and turns into a ball like shape around my head .it's pretty weird.

what do i do to keep it not so frizzy and poufy ?
